What is Damodara (Kartika) month?

Today I receive message of one of the person, who asked me, what is this Damodara month? I thought let me explain about in brief of this month and reason behind, why we celebrate it? Basically this month Kartika is known also Damodara month due to pastimes of Lord Krishna childhood, Damodara means Da(rope) and Udara(belly), actual meaning of it is to bind Krishna from rope on his belly. Once mother Yashoda was feeding her milk to Krishna and Krishna was enjoying, she kept milk on stove to boil, suddenly milk started flowing outside and mother Yashoda kept Krishna aside and ran away towards milk. Seeing this Krishna got angry and he started breaking all milk pots of butter and milk.  When mother Yashoda returned back and saw, she thought now Krishna become too naughty it's time now I have to give punish to him. She ran towards Krishna to catch and Krishna also ran, finally Krishna get caught in mother Yashoda hand. When she caught Krishna, Krishna started crying but due to anger mot

God has no envy to us

Some people blame, why God do this to me? But one thing we all should know, God is all merciful, He has no envy to us. But we the one who sometimes forget God and started feeling envious with them. When Lord Rama was fighting with demon king Ravana, Ravana got tired and seeing this Lord Rama told Ravana, I feel you are tired today go and take rest, we can resume our fight tomorrow morning. When Ravana heard this, he felt very shameful and while he was coming back to his palace he was thinking to Lord Rama only. Ravana thought, people are saying right about Rama, He is not an ordinary person. No ordinary person can have these types of qualities. He knows very well about me what type of sinful activities I have committed towards Him by kidnapping His wife, but still He did not show any reaction to me. Such a great personality Lord Rama is, If I killed by His hand then there is no harm in it. And when Lord Rama killed Ravana, He ordered Vibhishana to do all the final rituals for him. By t

Krishna and Illusion

Srila Prabhupada used to say about Illusion and Krishna, where there is Krishna there is no illusion, because Krishna is like Sun and illusion is like darkness. Where there is sun there is no darkness. But today we all are in illusion, because of we all are living in imaginary world.  First of all we all have to understand what is Illusion?  Most of the people are even not aware of it. Because all the time they stay in illusion. Illusion is something, which is not there but our mind try to convince us it is there. And when be convinced by our mind, then we stuck in the trap of illusion. If we take example of camel, in desert camel thinks cactus is the best food for me and when it chew cactus it's mouth gets injured and he get taste from his own blood.  But later on he realize the taste was not coming from cactus rather than it's coming from its own mouth. Sometimes we also feel, we are enjoying something but it's not, illusion makes us confused and instead of doing right th

Work to learn, don't just work to earn

There is saying, learning is more important than earning. That is very much suitable for every individual, most of the people only concern about earning but not learning. But at point of time if you stop learning you only work for your organization, not for your personal growth. Whatever position you are there is a lot of scope to learn,  but one thing we must know, to learn something from someone we must be honest and humble. People who think, why should I learn if I get paid for every month without learning anything new? But communication skill, leadership skill, and etiquette, these are the area where we can spend our whole life to learn, but there is no end of learning. Do not just simply work hard but learn to know how to do smart work. Every knowledge and skills add some benefits in our life, whether that point of time we use it or not but it will be useful for our future. So, wherever you get time and relevant person learn from them and show your gratitude towards them. Even you

Bollywood and Godless civilization

A godless civilization cannot cleanse the mind because it has no idea of God, and for this simple reason people under such a civilization cannot have good qualifications, however they may be materially equipped.  Bollywood is the one,  where people are so poor as they have all type of richness but they don't know how a human civilization should live in this world. The principles of religion do not stand on some dogmas or man-made formulas, but they stand on four primary regulative observances, namely austerity (no intoxication), cleanliness (no illicit sex), mercy (no animal killing) and truthfulness (no gambling). People must be taught to practice these principles from childhood. But today we see our schools, college and other institution are not worried about these basic things. Even some of the organization invites famous actors/actress in their organization, what they can give lesson to our young generation if they themselves not following it. Majority of young generation are i

Kartika - The holiest month

Sri Yashoda Damodara In all auspicious month Kartika is the month Lord Krishna love so much. In this month Lord Krishna please very quick from Their devotees. In this year it begins from Saturday 31 Oct 2020, and end Monday 30 Nov 2020. This month is also known as Damodara month because Lord Krishna played a nice pastimes. There are few things we must do to get benefit of this holy month because Krishna will be pleased very easily in this month: 1. Daily offer ghee lamp (deep) to Damodara and Tulsi 2. Daily recite Damodar ashtkam while offering lamp 3. Chant maha mantra as much as possible ( Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare ) 4. Read Damodar pastimes from Krishna book, where Lord Krishna saved Nalkubera and Manigriva (sons of kuvera) from cursed of Narada muni as they became arjuna trees 5. Try not to offense anyone 6. Try to visit Vrindavan dham if possible (due to covid-19), if it is not then do vir

True ego vs False ego

There are two types ego one is true and another is false. Most of the people live in false ego, they think I have power, position, knowledge and fame. But the true ego is to know the real identity, who am I? what is my real position and what I have to do in this world? False ego always keeps a person in dark side but true ego keeps a person in knowledge.  A true egositic person knows,  whatever happens there is a cause behind everything and Krishna is the cause of all causes. If we take example of Ravana the demon king who was so powerful even heavenly planets were under his control. But he had false ego, he forgot his real identity. And that is normal when people get name, fame, power and position they puffed up and think they are God. Ravana was thinking himself as a controller of whole universe. But he forgot he can not be the controller because Lord Krishna is the supreme controller and we all are under His control. And finally Lord Rama killed him very easily. No power and wealth

Bhagwad Gita is not only for Arjuna

When I meet people and discuss with them everyone has some unique problem in their life, and they don't find any suitable solution for that problem. In that conversation I add my points, why not you try Bhagwad Gita at least once and let's see the result, but in their reply they feel little shock, how can Bhagwad Gita solve my problems? Most of the people think Bhagwad Gita is only for Arjuna and not for us.  But if we apply our mind, Bhagwad Gita was not a planned seminar or any motivational session but it was told by Lord Krishna in Kurushetra battlefield where two armies were about to start fight. In our past history this type of motivational session never happens and nor going to be.  Arjuna was completely bewildered and withdrawal from fight, although he was great warrior but due to emotions he forgot his primary duty. Lord Krishna helped Arjuna to remember his primary duty and told not to be sentimental.  Arjuna accepted his mistakes and Arjuna who gave so many reasons to

Life is a preparation, death is an examination

We participate in so many exams in our life, and get the results as per our preparation for that exams. But most of the exams we have option, whether to attempt it or not? But there is one exam in our life which we may ignore saying we will see when it would come in our life, but we all have to attempt we don't have any choice, whether we are poor,  rich,  educated or illiterate. Srila Prabhupada used to say, this life is our preparation how we are preparing our-self for coming exam.  Because that exam has no prior time table, no time period, no grace marks, and no cheat sheet allowed. And you may be surprise to know, all our activities are recorded by Yamduta for our each and every moments with evidence. Yes, Yamduta will show your answer sheet and you can review it, whether he has marked you in correct way or not? You are successful, if you are passed your exams but if you are failed then you don't know when you will have to reattempt that exam (it could be after 84 laces bir

Things can only give pleasure to the mind & senses

Indra was trying to build a grand palace and he asked Vishwakaram ji to build a palace which should be top on all the three world. Vishwakaram ji, started building it without any interruption and completed a grand palace in hundred years. He asked Indra, please have a look at your palace, I know you must like it. Indra saw the palace but after seeing he felt little unhappy, it was not like how he made thought in his mind. Vishwakaram ji understood the problem of Indra, he sent Indra to visit  sage named Lomash. Lomash rishi was a great sage but he was living a very simple life even he was capable to live a luxurious life from power of his austerity. When Indra saw Lomash rishi, he was sitting under a tree without even roof on his head. Indra asked about that sage, I have heard about you, you are so great and scholar then why are you living without even home? Lomash rishi replied, life is very short if I waste my time in building house then I waste my quality time, instead I used it for

Uncertainty test our faith

Usually we all accept we have faith on God but when something uncertain with us we lose our faith. And started thinking that, there is no God and we try some other way to get out of that situation. But God gives uncertainty in our life to test our faith, how much we keep trust upon God. There was a temple priest he worship Lord but, sometimes he would thought is it really a God or just a simple statue? One day he went for a walk on beach side and thought its a clean and cold water let me enjoy this. He went down in the water and started surfing in it. After some time there was whale coming towards him and he was not aware of it,  suddenly he saw whale close to him, thought now I am finished. Suddenly he started praying to his deity, oh God please save me from this great danger now, I promise I will give my whole life to you. After while when he open his eyes, he saw there is no whale near by. He immediately come to temple and ask for forgiveness for his doubt on Lord and said, "my

What is the biggest problem for all of us?

In this world no one is free from problems, some has exam problem, some has childhood problem, some has business problem and some has family problem and problem never ends.  No one can say I am free from all the problems. If some one try to say, then we must consider himself a biggest liar of the world. In this world we can never solve our problems, because material problem can never be solved by material solution. It gives more pain if we try to solve material problem by material way. By a small example we can understand, a small kid fall sick and to get out of sickness he has to go to doctor and doctor has to give injection to him, that is more painful to that child compare to his sickness. So one can understand these problems are temporary for all of us and  it has to come and go, nothing is going to stay permanent with us, either happiness or miseries. But if we are not trying for spiritual advancement in human form of life then we are in the biggest problem. When Lord Rama asked H

Cow and Ox are not an ordinary animal

In modern education it is been taught, Cow and Ox comes under pet animals category. But in our scriptures it is said, Tulasi is not an ordinary plant, Ganges is not an ordinary river and Cow is not an ordinary animal. Only foolish person can assume Cows and Ox comes under the category of animals but they are considered to be our mother and father. In Srimad Bhawatam it is mentioned in canto 1 chapter 17, when Maharaj Parikshit saw Kali was beating Cow and Ox he became frustrated and immediate wanted to kill Kali. It is said that Ox is representation of Religion and Cow is representation of mother earth and if they are not been protected from human society then human society can not be in peace. The human society should recognize the importance of the cow and the bull and thus give all protection to these important animals, following in the footsteps of Mahārāja Parīkṣit. For protecting the cows and brahminical culture, the Lord, who is very kind to the cow and the brāhmaṇas (go-brāhmaṇ

The true religion

There was a small boy his parent lost in one crowd place. Sitting at one corner he was completely bewildered and crying loudly, people gathered over there and asked the boy, what is the issue, why are you crying? After sometimes boy started telling the entire story how he lost his parent and now he does not know anything how can he go back to his home. Many people come forward and shows sympathy towards that boy and give some sweets, toys, fruits etc. Boy stopped crying and started playing with toys, after seeing this everyone left from there. Few moments later again he started crying and people started asking, now what? Throwing everything aside he started telling I want my parents and I don't want anything else. There was an intelligent person who come forward and took boy with him and started asking about how much he can recall about his school, home etc and finally he reached the place where that boy resides. So, moral of the story is whatever definition for religion we may cal

Learn to live life not for pleasure but for the right purpose

There was a student he always used to think if I get this I can enjoy my life. And he started his life towards pleasure & started dealing with everything and everyone for the same reason. He went abroad for higher study & thought, once he get the higher degree his life will me more joyful. He achieved his degree and got a good job, but his life even feel lack of something and there is no permanent pleasure what was looking for since long time. Finally he married with a young girl thinking she might help to make his life more beautiful. But after sometime they started fighting with each others and he made his life more painful. This is the story of all of us, we all are expecting pleasure in our life from something or someone, but unfortunately we don't know the reality that life is not meant for pleasure but for the right purpose. If we have right purpose in our life although we feel lack of something we can live a very happy and peaceful life. But if we only concern about

Krishna is the only manager, we are damager

In ancient time there was no words as planning, but now this words become too popular we use it for financial planning, family planning,  travel planning, education planning, business planning etc. But how much we make our plan, it happens exactly opposite of it. And that makes ones life frustrated if his plan does not execute as per his planning. If we go few years back and see the life of the people, they were not worried about anything either it is relates to finance, education or business.  Because they were completely dependent on Krishna's planning, they knew it well, Krishna is the supreme manager just we have to follow His order and instruction, to make our life successful. But in modern time we think everything work as per my plan, but if we think from our cool head, nothing works as per our plan. And if something works accordingly then it is not the our plan but it is Krishna's plan to make our plan successful. Human form of life is not eternal but very short and we w

Knowledge leads to service

Literacy rate of India is increasing as per survey year on year but only we are getting is information not knowledge.  There is a huge difference between information and knowledge. Knowledge leads us towards service. Only core information is not sufficient for any human being. Its our responsibility towards society, whatever knowledge we get we must utilize it for service to help others. If we are not sharing our knowledge to others then we are miser. It's our duty to share our good thoughts and knowledge towards other and help to lift our society.  If you want yourself to be happy then share your knowledge to others to make them happy. But if you think why should I go and help others if I am capable to help myself. Then it is a symbol of false ego and real knowledge never makes us egoistic. Srila Prabhupada always used to tell, In morning read Srimad Bhagwatam and In evening read Bhagwad Gita & in middle do your service accordingly, that is called spiritual sandwich. I am shar

Positivity in Negativity

Most of the time we blame to the situation which goes against us and we think this should not had happen with me. But an intelligent person always see from his knowledge eyes and sees whatever happen with us is always good for us. I share with you one small story. There was a grandfather, he always used to go to walk every day morning, suddenly one day he got an accident and his one hand got injured. He started blaming to God, oh God why did it happen with me? Next morning when he was about to wear his clothes he was unable to do so just from one hand. He tried his best but he could not make it happen. Suddenly all his four grandson ran away towards him & started helping to wear his grandfather clothes. After seeing the love and affection from his grandsons which he was never seen before, tears from his eyes fell down. He saw upwards and started thanking to God. Oh, Lord you are so great I was unable to understand before how much my grand children love me but by this small accident

We can not satisfy all our desires

Fulfillment of our desires becomes our basic needs today, we wake up in the morning by some of our desires and sleep with new one. These desires are unlimited and whenever we fulfill one seems more important for us.  But one thing we have to understand, we can not fulfill all our desires and if we try to do we must make our life frustrating. If we talk about recent incident Sushant Singh Rajput, he was doing his engineering degree from Delhi College of Engineering. But because of his unwanted and uncontrolled desires he wanted to become more famous and popular in Bollywood as he was not satisfied with his current profession. No doubt, he achieved name and fame within a very short period of time but finally what is he and his desires now? Definitely as a human being we all have some desires but never forget we can not fulfill all our desires. Passion, Glamours, media and fashions makes us more desirable, so keep yourself away from it. Live a simple and healthy life, accepts whatever com
