It is said that, What you sow, shall yo reap. and our Karma decides our destiny,  that is why our scriptures strictly warn us not to do such activities which lead us towards bad karma. And once we accumulate our Karma our destiny is fixed, no one can change it. It is often seen people are not much worried about there own desires and ambitions but when they see others desires getting fulfilled but they are unable to fulfill there own desire they become envious towards others. Being envious towards others is the biggest problem of today's world. It is sometimes acceptable we do  not have something but it is never acceptable if that things belong to our neighbour. In comparison to our ancient times there are so many things we have invented to make ourselves happy & peaceful today. But still when it comes to our peace and happiness it is missing from our life.
