The King who sold himself to protect Dharma

Bharata the land is very famous for many great personalities whether it is sacrifice, austerity, honesty or truthfulness.

In the line of Ikshvaku dynasty where supreme personality of Godhead Lord Rama Himself descended there was a great king named Harish Chandra. He was very famous for his honesty and truthfulness.

When their fame reached in heaven and demigods planning to take test of King Harish Chandra great sage and spiritual master of King Harish Chandra Vashishtha agreed to take test of his disciple any time.

Hearing this sage Vishwamitra who was little envious to Vashishta asked, "What if your disciple fail in test?"

Sage Vashishtha replied very confidently, "I will give up my position of sage and live a normal life".

Vishwamitra agreed, he went to take test of King Harish Chandra. He created a kingdom from his mystic power where three beautiful girls were there, one day while Harish Chandra was going through these girls warmly welcomed and Harish Chandra pleased by their hospitality.

While he was leaving sage Vishwamitra appeared and asked to marry those three girls, Harish Chandra replied, my dear sage I am already married and have son I can not marry with these girls.

Sage Vishwamitra got angry and asked then in return you have to give up your whole asset, King Harish Chandra agreed but while he was leaving sage Vishwamitra asked to give extra money as you have nothing yours now you have to pay it from your own.

King Harish Chandra went to Kashi (Varanasi) to work and along with him their wife Taramati and son Rohit also went. When they reached at Kashi they asked many people to they are ready to sell if some one can pay that much amount what sage Vishamitra is needed.

King Harish Chandra sold himself to the owner of cremation ground where he has to work at Manikarnika Ghat (the famous place in Varansi where it is considered that mother Parvati's earing was fallen down while Lord Shiva was roaming carring mother Parvati on His shoulder) and his wife and son were working at home of a rich person.

One day when prince Rohit went to cut the wood a snake bit and he immediately died. Taramati took her son and went to cremation and asked to burn his child, but in return King Harish Chandra asked money, she refused to pay as she was nothing in hand.

At the same time few soldiers came and arrested Taramati to stealing the child of king Varansi and punishment was to cut the head. They ordered King Harish Chandra to cut the head of Taramati, King Harish Chandra took the sword in his hand and going to cut the head of his own wife .

Suddenly there was rain of flower petals and all demigods along with sage Vishwamitra appeared and son of King Harish Chandra Rohit also wake up everything seems magical.

Sage Vishwamitra smiled and appreciated King Harish Chandra for protecting his Dharma even he snetched everything from him and he retruend everything along with with his kingdom and gave more boons too.

From that day we believe no one can be higher in truthfulness and honesty like King Harish Chandra.

One who protect Dharma, Dharma protect him.

Hare Krishna!

Life is a preparation, death is an examination

We participate in so many exams in our life, and get the results as per our preparation for that exams. But most of the exams we have option, whether to attempt it or not? But there is one exam in our life which we may ignore saying we will see when it would come in our life, but we all have to attempt we don't have any choice, whether we are poor,  rich,  educated or illiterate. Srila Prabhupada used to say, this life is our preparation how we are preparing our-self for coming exam.  Because that exam has no prior time table, no time period, no grace marks, and no cheat sheet allowed. And you may be surprise to know, all our activities are recorded by Yamduta for our each and every moments with evidence. Yes, Yamduta will show your answer sheet and you can review it, whether he has marked you in correct way or not? You are successful, if you are passed your exams but if you are failed then you don't know when you will have to reattempt that exam (it could be after 84 laces bir

Depression vs Satisfaction

There are two types of people live in this world, one who live a satisfied life and one who goes into depression when something goes wrong in their life. A satisfied person can stay happy all the time in any circumstances but a person who looks for sense pleasure and thinks sense objects is going to give happiness to me always goes into depression, if he does not get pleasure from an objects or person. And the secret of satisfactions is to see opportunity in every aspects whether it is success or failure. Many of us become happy when we get success but become sad when failure comes in our life. We must remember one thing, in our life success and failure is not going to stay forever with anyone. A very successful person has to face even failure sometimes in his life. A satisfied person knows it very well, that is why he does not goes in to depression for his failure but he learn from it and move on. A very beautiful quotes by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, "Don't read success stories, yo

Be Humble - Time can change everything

When we get name, fame and power we puffed by the false ego and become arrogant to the people and think no one is greater than me. But our history says, who were arrogant, time has collapsed all of them. None of us can say, I can beat the time and can go against it. We all are under control of Time as Lord Krishna has already stated in the Bhagwad Gita (I am the time and eveything is under my control). But due to our false ego we do not accept this fact become arrogant with other people instead of becoming humble with them. Who was "King of Good times" now became "King of bad times", so easily we can understand time make us King or Beggar. So we should be always being humble with the people in our Good times and take blessings from them for our bad times, but we do exactly opposite of it, we become arrogant in Good times and seek for blessings in our bad times. But what is the use of it, when you hurt someone, you lose sympathy from that person's heart.
