It is mentioned in all Vedic scriptures Kartik is the holiest month in all and who offer ghee lamp to Lord Damodar receive pure devotions from Lord KRISHNA.  The last 5 days of the month of Kartik are traditionally known as the Bhishma Panchaka.  It is considered Grandfather of Kurus Bhismadeva fasted for these five days, preparing to give up his life. Our festival in India has a deep meaning of it, how we celebrate and what is the reason behind it?  If we talk about Diwali festival it starts from Dhanteras and 5-day celebration.  On the Dhanteras day we only worship Mother Lakshmi devi and seek Her blessings, especially in form of wealth. The word “dhan” means wealth.  We think Dahan means only Laxmi Devi and  Dhanteras is only for worshiping Lakshmi devi, the goddess of fortune.  However, this is not a complete understanding.
