We must have heard about Udupi many times but only few knows the facts about the place Udupi which is non-different than Vrindavana where Lord Krishna played His childhood pastimes.
Udupi Krishna is a very holy and powerful place for devotee of Lord Krishna where Lord Krishna in the form of stick in one hand and rope in other in standing position is a very unique idol.
There is a story behind this form and the place how Krishna appeared. It is said that only a great saint can have power to call Lord from His abode and Sripad Madhvacharya (an incarnation of Hanuman ji /Bheema) around 750 years before who installed the deity of Lord Krishna which Krishna played His childhood pastimes in Dwarka when mother Devaki requested Krishna to be a baby as she missed Krishna's childhood and when Krishna took the form of a baby Rukmani Devi (the first wife of Krishna) saw this beautiful form of Krishna and requested Krishna to make an idol like that.
Over the gratitude captain wanted to give something to Sripad Madhvacharya and Sripad Madhvacharya asked to give the sand of Dwarka which you are kept in your ship to balance it and when they took it broke into the form of deity (the same deity which was gifted to Rukmini Devi).
There is also a birth place of Madhvacharya where he played his childhood pastimes and place of Parashuram Ji.
There is Sharada Peeth (a first pilgrimage build by Adi Shankaracharya) Shringeri and beautiful temple of Mother Sarasvati (it is believed that when child is about to go to school take darshan of Mother Sarasvati)
There is Mookambika temple an idol of mother Durga is a very famous place.
There is also temple of Lord Shiva one is Chandramoleshwara (where Lord Shiva gave shelter to moon on His head) and another is Ananteshwara.(A worshiped deity of Lord Parashurama)
There are so many things to explore in Udupi foods, places, temples, and cultures. I am sure if you go there you must like the place.
I would like to thanks to H.G. Kamal Lochan Prabhuji for his association and Madhvendra Nimai Prabhuji and team for very well organized managements.
Udupi Krishna ki Jai! Madhvacharya ki Jai, Shankaracharya ki Jai!
Hare Krishna!
