Why Lord Shiva took form of Gopi in Vrindavana?

On this auspicious day of Shravana month which is considered to be very auspicious to please Lord Shiva, we will share one interesting fact about Lord Shiva, how He transform Himself in the form of lady (Gopi) in Vrindavana & became very famous as "Gopishwar Mahadev”.

When Lord Krishna was performing Rasa-Dance with Gopis, Lord Shiva heard melodious sound of Krishna's flute, He became very curious to participate in the Rasa-Dance but when He reached at Banshi Vata, He stopped because only Gopis are allowed to enter into the Rasa Dance.

He took form of a beautiful Gopi and Lord Krishna gave name as "Gopishwar Mahadev” and also blessed Lord Shiva, if anyone take darshan of Lord Shiva as "Gopishwar Mahadev” Lord Shiva fullfill his desire to complete his devotional activities.

Lord Shiva shared His realization after visiting that place BanshiVata (Banshi means Flute and Vata means Banyan tree) as;

"There is no place like Vrindavan, there is no village like Nand Gram, there is no Banyan Tree-like Banshi Vat , and there is no name like Radha Krishna".

There is a beautiful temple in Vrindavana as BanshiVata, where we can get Darshan of Maha Rasa and Gopishwar Mahadeva.

Lord Shiva as Gopi (Gopishwar Mahadev) in Banshi Vata. Vamshivat is the place where lord Krishna played the flute during Rasa Leela.

Banshi Vata.- the original tree under which Krishna played the flute 5500 years ago at Vrindavana.

Let's pray to Lord Shiva on this auspicious day to give us the blessing to get engaged in the devotional service of Lord Krishna.

Jai Gopishwar Mahadeva.
