Lord Parashurama the Warrior Incarnation of Lord

Today we are celebrating the appearance day of Lord Parashuram. Lord Parashuram is known as 6th incarnation of Lord Vishnu and also known as a warrior incarnation.

Lord Parashurama was born as the son of sage Jamdagni. Sage Jamdagni was very religious and saintly person. He was having a cow named Kamdhenu which was so powerful and wish fulfilling.

One day a King named Arjuna (not that Pandvas) came to Jamdagni cottage and Jamdagni hosted a feast for all his soldiers along with King.

King Arjuna go to know it is just because of this cow and he immediately took cow along with him.

When Lord Parashurama came and saw His father face, he asked the reason, father explained everything what took place.

Lord Parashurama became so angry and immediately dressed in a black deerskin and with matted locks of hair, He took His axe and shield and went to punish the king.

He chopped the king in several pieces and no one comes in between to stop him.

After few years in absense of Lord Parashurama , sons of King Arjuna came and cut the throat of sage Jamdagni. When mother of Lord Parashurama Renuka started crying Lord Parashurama ran and reached at cottage.

Seeing the situation he became angry like a snake and again he took the same form in black dress, axe in hand with red eyes he entered into the kingdom of Arjuna and started cutting people like banana tree.

It is said that there was blood pool created and not only once but he killed King Arjuna's 21 generations.

Finally he went for mediation on Mahendra mountain and left everything and again appeared in public when Lord Rama Chandra broke the bow of Lord Shiva.

We can chant this prayer to please Lord Parashurama ;

क्षत्रिय-रुधिर-मये जगद् -अपगत-पापम्

स्नपयसि पयसि शमित-भव-तापम्

केशव धृत-भृगुपति रूप जय जगदीश हरे

0 Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed the form of Bhrigupati [Parasurama]!

All glories to You! At Kurukshetra You bathe the earth in the rivers of blood from the bodies of the

demoniac kshatriyas that You have slain. The sins of the world are washed away by You, and because of You

people are relieved from the blazing fire of material existence.

Jai Sri Parashurama!
