Don't work for appreciation, work for satisfaction

Most of the times we work to get appreciation from our boss, elders or from society. If we talk more than 90% of employee, leaders and social activist work to get appreciation from the people. If they don't get proper appreciation from the people whom they work, they stop working.

According to Bhagwad Gita this world is full of duality, sometimes you get appreciation and sometimes you get bad words from the same people, it's only matter of time.

In RAMAYANA we see when when Lord Rama was leaving to the exile from AYODHYA, Laxmana younger brother of Lord Rama became ready to go along with Lord Rama although he was not even ordered to go.

He does selfless service to Lord Rama for fourteen years without even sleep and when Ravana kidnapped mother Sita, Lord Rama shows his anger towards Laxmana and before that mother Sita also showed the same.

Although he could asked to Lord Rama, I am serving you selflessly, I left palace and comfort and come along with you in this dense forest and not slept for a single moment and instead of giving me appreciation of my work you both are showing anger on me.

But instead of all these, Laxmana kept silent and tolerated everything. Do you know why? Because he was not serving Lord Rama for appreciation, he was serving Lord Rama for satisfactions.

If you work for appreciation, you might not get satisfactions but if you are satisfied with your work, whether you get appreciation or not does not matter for you.

कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन ।

मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि ॥ 2.47 ॥

You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty.

Most of the people only quotes the first part of the verse, but they are not aware of the other parts. How to act and not to be attached to the result.

If we perform our duty nicely and detached from our result then it is the proper meaning of the verse.

Life is a preparation, death is an examination

We participate in so many exams in our life, and get the results as per our preparation for that exams. But most of the exams we have option, whether to attempt it or not? But there is one exam in our life which we may ignore saying we will see when it would come in our life, but we all have to attempt we don't have any choice, whether we are poor,  rich,  educated or illiterate. Srila Prabhupada used to say, this life is our preparation how we are preparing our-self for coming exam.  Because that exam has no prior time table, no time period, no grace marks, and no cheat sheet allowed. And you may be surprise to know, all our activities are recorded by Yamduta for our each and every moments with evidence. Yes, Yamduta will show your answer sheet and you can review it, whether he has marked you in correct way or not? You are successful, if you are passed your exams but if you are failed then you don't know when you will have to reattempt that exam (it could be after 84 laces bir

Depression vs Satisfaction

There are two types of people live in this world, one who live a satisfied life and one who goes into depression when something goes wrong in their life. A satisfied person can stay happy all the time in any circumstances but a person who looks for sense pleasure and thinks sense objects is going to give happiness to me always goes into depression, if he does not get pleasure from an objects or person. And the secret of satisfactions is to see opportunity in every aspects whether it is success or failure. Many of us become happy when we get success but become sad when failure comes in our life. We must remember one thing, in our life success and failure is not going to stay forever with anyone. A very successful person has to face even failure sometimes in his life. A satisfied person knows it very well, that is why he does not goes in to depression for his failure but he learn from it and move on. A very beautiful quotes by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, "Don't read success stories, yo

Be Humble - Time can change everything

When we get name, fame and power we puffed by the false ego and become arrogant to the people and think no one is greater than me. But our history says, who were arrogant, time has collapsed all of them. None of us can say, I can beat the time and can go against it. We all are under control of Time as Lord Krishna has already stated in the Bhagwad Gita (I am the time and eveything is under my control). But due to our false ego we do not accept this fact become arrogant with other people instead of becoming humble with them. Who was "King of Good times" now became "King of bad times", so easily we can understand time make us King or Beggar. So we should be always being humble with the people in our Good times and take blessings from them for our bad times, but we do exactly opposite of it, we become arrogant in Good times and seek for blessings in our bad times. But what is the use of it, when you hurt someone, you lose sympathy from that person's heart.
