Solar Eclipse and Story behind it

Modern science believe that when moon planet overlap Sun planet then it is known as Eclipse but as per our Vedic scriptures there is one invisible planet Rahu which covers Sun planet then it is Eclipse.

There is a story behind it when Demons and Demigods agreed for churning the Ocean for nectar.

Lord Vishnu in the form of Mohini (Lady) appears to distribute the nectar and She gave nectar only to demigods and there was one demon changed his form to demigod sits in between Sun and Moon.

While distributing this demon received the nectar from Mohini but immediately Sun God understood he is not demigod but demon and informed Mohini.

Lord Vishnu appear in his original form and cut his head by Sudarshana but meantime Rahu drank nectar and his head portion got immortal.

Lord Brahma declared Rahu as planet, since Sun and Moon informed to Vishnu about him, he takes revenge from them when he get chance.

Because of his demonic nature when he cover Sun it's rays become poisonous and negative energies spread all over the world.

This is the time when we can chant Lord holy names and ask for help of Sun God, we should not go outside as this rays are very harmful for skin and eyes.

We should not eat anything and eatables should be properly  covered. After eclipse gets over we must take bath to remove negative energies.
