Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati - A Lion Guru

Today we are celebrating the appearance day of the most important personality of the Gaudiya Vaishnava community Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura.

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati, who was also known as Saraswati Thakur, he appeared in the holy place of Jagannath Puri in the year 1874. When he was born, his umbilical cord was wrapped around him exactly as a brahmana thread decorates those who are twice born, which is a very rare and special phenomenon. And at his birth when people saw this they were very much astonished.

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati was not an ordinary person and he has done a lot for our Vaishnava Community as well for our Nation. He was very brilliant in His childhood, He memorized all 700 shlokas of Bhagwad Gita at the age of 5 years only. If we see His only top 5 qualities and try to learn a lesson from it our life will be successful.

1. Determination: When He was child He ate mango without offering to the Lord and seeing this His father Srila Bhakti Vinoda Thakura told him, "You should have not eaten that mango without offering to the Lord." and from that day Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura in his life time never touch the mango. So, we can see how much he was determined by His principles.

2. Commitment: When His associates started telling to Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura to go and preach you already have so much knowledge, but in reply He said, "I have already committed until I will not finish 1 billion names of Krishna I will not go to preach." And For 9 years he remained in Mayapur chanting 192 rounds every day until He finally completed his vow of chanting 1 billion names of Krishna.

3. Enthusiasm: He was always enthusiastic while preaching, no one dare to come in front of Him. When He starts speaking great scholars used to keep their mouth shut that is the reason people used to call them "Lion Guru".

4. Care: He was very much carefull to others. There was one opening ceremony of the temple and one Brahmachari used to serve there for so many years, but due to some of his mistakes temple management asked him to leave the temple. When Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura reached for ceremony and did not see that Brahmachari. He called up management team and asked where is he? The manager told to Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, "Actually he made a big mistake that is why we let him go from this temple." Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura told to the manager, "Go and search for that Brahmachari and until and unless you will not find them I am not going to do this opening ceremony." So, here we can see how much he was caring to others.

5. Compassion: When people were too much attached in material life and started breaking all kinds of norms of Vedic scriptures for their sense gratification. He showed his compassion to the Kaliyuga people and started the Sankirtan movement all over the world. He is the one who spread this movement in Foreign language and delivered so many Malikshaya (Western countries people) they were involved in Gambling, Intoxication, Illicit Sex and Meat Eating. So, we can see here how compassionate he was.

This is few qualities I tried to share on His appearance day so we can get the love of His Lotus feet and make our life successful.

Jai Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura Prabhupada!

Nectar in the beginning but Poison in end

He was young and belonging from rich family, he entered into the compartment and seated next to me.  Long and stylist hair, branded watch on wrist, iPhone in hand but he was loosing his control. Started abusing someone on phone and shouting out very louder, people was looking at him.  He was fully drunken and started vomiting, people thrown out him out of train and he slayed down at platform. Story is not over yet, I was thinking is this our modern education we are providing to our children and in the name of facilities we are giving them huge money, branded gadgets, but being an guarding do we ever try to esquire what they do and, which type of association they keep?  Once these things comes in their hands they start thinking, no one is greater than me and due to false ego they disrespect elder people.  But one thing they forget, disrespecting elder people only harmful to them because elderly people only teach them morality and good lesson. And being an elder person...
