Three modes of material nature

In this world we are bound to be work under three modes of material nature. We are not free to work as per our wish, but it looks sometimes we are the doer of everything. So today we are going to discuss about three modes of material nature and which modes we are in that also we will try focus on it.

The three modes of material nature are:

1. Mode of Goodness (Satva)
2. Mode of Passion (Rajas)
2. Mode of Ignorance (Tamas)

So why we are discussing about it because these three modes control the activities of the pure living entity in this world based on their desires and permitted by their karma. It is very important to understand these three modes of nature and how they act upon a living entity; In the Bhagavad-Gita for our understanding Lord Krishna has already explained in chapter 14.

The person who keep himself in the mode of Goodness always be happy and makes others happy also. There are few qualities about Goodness:

1. Active
2. Punctual
3. Discipline
4. Eat Healthy and fresh foods
5. Always be in good association
6. Spiritual
7. Loving Relationship
8. Selfless

The person who keep himself in the mode of Passion always try to be happy and makes others miserable. There are few qualities about Passion:

1. Agreesive
2. Excited
3. Indiscipline
4. Eat Delicious and spicy foods
5. Always associate with passionate people
6. Self-Motivated
7. Relationship only for their own benefit
8. Selfish

The person who keep himself in the mode of Ignorance always be in miserable condition and makes others miserable also. There are few qualities about Ignorance:

1. Lazy
2. Late
3. Indiscipline
4. Eat anything and unhealthy foods
5. Always associate with ignorant people
6. Self-Motivated
7. Relationship does not matter
8. Selfish

So, we can see few qualities about Goodness, Passion and Ignorance. In Bhagwad Gita Lord Krishna has already stated in 14.11-12-13. In start Mode of Goodness gives little pain but at the end it gives pleasure, in start Passion give pleasure but at the end it gives only pain, in start and end both Ignorance gives only pain but no happiness.

We can understand by a simple example. A student life is little painful waking up early, study a lot and being in discipline but the students who take it seriously in his life become successful is mode of Goodness, but who think there is a lot of time now, I will do it later is in mode of Passion, and one of who has no idea why he is studying and just go to school and waste his own time and others too is in mode of Ignorance.

So, in Bhagwat Gita Lord Krishna also explains that mode of goodness is purer than the other two modes of nature viz passion and ignorance, since in mode of goodness one develops knowledge.

I hope you have understood three modes of material nature and how to keep yourself always in mode of goodness to be a good person.
